The Channahon Police Department offers a house-check program for residents leaving their home for a period of no longer than 30 days. Officers will make every reasonable effort to inspect your home and property during your absence. However, circumstances may not allow for checks on certain dates or at all. This program is not a substitute for making proper arrangements for prolonged absences, such as mail delivery or enlisting friends and family to look after your home and property.

Note: For the safety of your house guests and our officers, the residence will not qualify for house-checks if anyone will be staying at the residence during the time of the checks or if the home is vacant due to sale or construction.

The purpose of this service is to provide citizens an online reporting option for certain crimes and incidents that are NOT an emergency, in-progress or involve injury/illness or involve any firearm. You must have a valid email address to file an online report.

The Channahon Police Department will NOT accept an online report if:

• You have any information about a possible suspect (person you think committed the crime).
• You have physical evidence such as fingerprints, blood, etc.
• The incident occurred outside the Village limits of Channahon.

Make sure you have all the information you need to submit your report:

• Who is reporting the incident (complainant and/or victim).
• When and where did the crime occur; provide a detailed description of the incident.
• What vehicle(s) (if applicable) was involved in the incident.
• What property was lost, stolen, and/or damaged.
