It is the policy of Bainbridge Public Safety to foster confidence from the citizens of Bainbridge and to maintain high professional standards.

We welcome compliments and encourage the filing of legitimate complaints of misconduct or poor performance against the agency or its employees. However, investigation of complaints and prosecution of criminal cases are two separate matters. If a person arrested by a BPS officers files a citizen's complaint against the arresting officer, then such action will not affect the prosecution of the criminal case. Complaints, concerning guilt or innocence, will only be decided by the court.

Anonymous complaints will be accepted. However, anonymous complaints can be difficult to substantiate, as the complainant is unavailable for re-interview. Citizens offering anonymous complaints are advised that the agency’s ability to investigate the complaint may be limited by their anonymity.

Complaint investigations vary in time based off numerous factors. Typically we strive to provide a response to citizen complaints within thirty days.

Please be aware, knowingly and willfully making a false statement may result in prosecution for a felony as provided for in Official Code of Georgia Annotated Section 16-10-20.
